A morning or two ago, a friend read a scripture to me. It was as if I’d never heard the words before, although I’m sure I have. From the New Living Translation, Matthew 12:20: “He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally He will cause justice to be victorious.” In this season of resolutions, I can’t think of one I’ll faithfully keep. I could resolve to lose weight and not lose my temper, to make time but not waste time, to be confident while not becoming absolute. But I am the weakest reed and the flickering candle. I set aside all false sense of self-accomplishment and make the one resolve within my reach: to rest in His strength.
I finally read this blog, I love the picture and the quote, but had not come to the same conclusion as you did…maybe I will de-stress, if I resolve to try to take deep breaths and rest in the same Strong Arms…Thanks for the blessing of your words.
