Rainy Day Paint

by Renaissance Girl
It rained on Saturday.  It rained the Saturday before too.  There is so much painting to be done and it just rains on Saturdays — but we press on, timing each section with a break in the clouds and somehow it works.  So this week, we arrived for our Saturday work time and were asked to come back at 10:00 when the weather looked like it would clear.  I came back around 9:30 and we launched into the side wall of the Convent.  It was a ball really, five girls with paint and ladders and lots to talk about.  And the vantage point from the convent roof was fascinating!  We saw the new barn with ladders up its side like a medieval fort being breached…paint buckets swinging.  We saw the team scurrying to prepare snacks for hungry workers (we love these people!), and through the window to the sister’s infirmary, we saw a sister recovering from an injury enjoying the sight of us outside her window — like a visitor with her own private pass to the zoo, peering through the glass at the wild animals!  The best part?   We finished the wall we set out to finish — minus the rain!

About Renaissance Girl

I moved to the Community with my family in 1988 when I was 10 - which gives away my current age! I am now a solemnly professed member - I work at Paraclete Press, the publishing arm of the Community and I love my job! I also sing in the choir Gloriæ Dei Cantores, and am a member of Elements Theatre Company and Spirit of America Band. As a Docent for the Church of the Transfiguration, I get to discover new things about the church every time I share it with someone else. When I'm not doing one of those activities, I love to spend time with my dog or my "extended family". There's a lot of variety in my life which keeps me energized - and I'm learning how to be more in the moment so whether I'm at a rehearsal, or making dinner in the kitchen with 5 girls, they all get 100% of me!
