Late Have I Loved You

Jesus stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you!” John 20:19
This is the season of marvelous stories: complete strangers turn out, lo and behold, to be The Long Lost Loved One, insufferable mourning lifts its head and discovers The Lord of the Dance, and doors locked for fear give way to the Prince of Peace. Sometimes I get jealous of those disciples being with Jesus. Some days when I am all too painfully aware of the persistence of those lies I still believe, those resentments I still cling to, and those attitudes that still war against God and hide out behind my closed doors, I think, “How did they get so lucky?” But, I have to say, I am grateful that they were never stingy about sharing their lives because it’s all their wonderful, wonder-filled stories that see me through the rough patches, encourage me to lift up my head, help me to unbar the door.

About Artist's Eye

Our family moved to the Community in 1990. While raising our two children here I've worked at Paraclete Press and have been involved with Fine Arts over the years. I love to paint, tell stories, and build puppets--a thirty foot whale and her baby for the Spirit of America Band Field Show was one of the funnest projects I've ever done!

  1. God always sends inspirations to make us realize that even we have imperfections, He deeply and dearly loves us. He sends these inspirations to give us comfort in the midst of the problems and trials that come our way. The stories of the disciples are truly inspiring. Who knows that after some time, your story can also inspire other people to be closer to God.
