Late Have I Loved You

by Artist Eye

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun. Ecclesiastes 11:7

I recently spent some time reading about the chapel in Vence, France that Matisse designed near the end of his life. The stained glass windows flood the small space with warmth and calm. Ever concerned with the compelling beauty of light and color, the painter considered the Vence chapel to be his crowning masterpiece.

This week I’ve heard more than a few people rejoice at the lengthening daylight. Even those of us who forgot to set our alarm clocks ahead can’t help but begin to anticipate how soon we will celebrate the triumphant return of the Light of Lights.

So lengthen, Oh Lord, our days that we may ever tend towards your own Bright day.

About Artist's Eye

Our family moved to the Community in 1990. While raising our two children here I've worked at Paraclete Press and have been involved with Fine Arts over the years. I love to paint, tell stories, and build puppets--a thirty foot whale and her baby for the Spirit of America Band Field Show was one of the funnest projects I've ever done!
