While we were working on the Community grounds this weekend, one of the Brothers who knows about these things told me that we’re not likely to get another hard freeze this season because the earthworms, who apparently also know about these things, have been making their way up to the surface of the ground. My friend pointed out the telltale earthworm tracks and, I have to say, I was convinced. If I were one of those mammals who gets to sleep through the winter I might be tempted to roll over and go back to sleep, but actually I’m excited about the prospect of spring and I’ll be on the lookout for other signs. Has anyone heard the Red-winged Blackbirds yet?
Haven’t heard the Red Wings yet…
We heard one in the marsh by the church the other day.
