Martin, Bishop of Tours

November 11, 2016 all-day

Martin of Tours was a fourth-century soldier in the Roman army who became a humble soldier for Christ. As a monk he founded influential monasteries in Gaul. He maintained his humble devotion to God even after he became Bishop of Tours and was greatly admired for his miraculous ministry. His shrine became a famous stopping place for pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostella in Spain—a pilgrimage that some of our young men took earlier last year.
