New Dishwasher

I just finished installing our new dishwasher, shown below. Our first indication of trouble was when our old [white] dishwasher stopped in the middle of a wash cycle. We found that we could coax it through cycle completion by pushing on the door at strategic times, but knew that a new dishwasher was suddenly at the top of our agenda.

We have owned our house with another couple for more than 30 years and have often experienced the joy of finding God’s solution to house problems, in spite of our four opinions. So we prayed and went shopping. Our only requirement was the color: black, to match our stove and refrigerator. The first stop was a store in town, which had 20 models from 6 manufacturers. We left in confusion, prayed again, and traveled 30 minutes to a larger store that had fewer choices. A helpful salesman guided us through the choices and we settled on the one shown in the photo. One week later it was delivered and installed. And it works. Praise God!

About Open Eyes

I moved to the Community of Jesus in 1977 with my wife and three middle-school children. Now I am 72 and my children are middle aged. I am grateful for my two grandchildren living next door. My PhD in physics led to a career in aviation safety that continues to the present, although at a reduced level of involvement. Surrounded by computers in my home office, I am also part of the team that supports the Community's computer network. I enjoy gardening, both in my yard and in the Community's vineyard. I love to see God's hand in everything around me. I teach high school chemistry for home school and am continually astounded at what God has created from less than 100 elements--the chemist's view (and only three elementary particles--the physicist's view). Although I am slowing down physically, I find God continually providing me with new challenges.
